Marshfield 2 Thurston 1
Thurston's Grant Willis had the Pirate's fooled for five innings with his off speed pitches and sneaky fastball.  The Colt infield vacuumed all grounders and centerfield Chad Albers chased down every flyball hit between the bay and the ocean.  A Pirate finally reached first in the fourth, and Marshfield's Shane Rose hit a bullet line drive for a certain single, but the hit and run was on and the colt 2nd baseman Colin Schaurmann doubled up the Pirates.  The Pirates were 3 up 3 down in the fifth and trailed 1-0.  The lead off batter for Marshfield K'd in the bottom of the 6th.  So far, 16 batters, 16 outs.  Then sophomore Fred Keuhn singled, followed by a single by pinch hitting junior Steve Mann, then a single by sophomore Jesse McLintock to load the bases with one out.  Then soph Gatlon Giorgis singled in two runs.  Enjoying his timely hit, he got caught in a rundown for the Pirates second out.  The Pirates couldn't get in another run, but Rexine was dominant in the 7th. Colt Willis finished with 5 k's, no walks.  Pirate Rexine k'd 10, walked 1 (he scored) and gave up 6 hits.  Great game to watch!
